Cooking: how to remove burnt food from your dishes and pots?

Forgot your vegetables on the stove, prepared caramel or left a gratin in the oven? Your pan or dish is blackened and the burnt food is fiercely attached to it? Don't panic, it happens... even to the biggest one! No need to buy new utensils, it is possible to recover your pan with a few simple tricks.

How to proceed?

Depending on what you have at home, several solutions are available to you. However, first of all, you will need to remove as much as possible of the burnt food from your dishes and throw it away, then put water in your saucepan and boil it over a high heat for several minutes. This will allow most of the debris to fall off the bottom of the pan and even remove everything.

If this first technique is not sufficient, you can use one of the following options.

  • Solution 1: Baking soda and dishwashing liquid

Use a mixture of baking soda, dishwashing liquid and water in which you soak your pans for 15 to 30 minutes before scrubbing them with a plastic brush.

  • Solution 2: Baking soda and white vinegar

Bring a mixture of vinegar and water to a boil in your pot or pan. When it has cooled, add baking soda and scrub with a plastic brush.

  • Solution 3: Baking soda

Spread a layer of baking soda on the bottom of the pan, add a little water to form a paste and boil for a few minutes. When the mixture has cooled, rub with a sponge.

  • Solution 4: Dishwasher tablet or washing powder

Fill your pot or dish with water and add a dishwasher tab or a large tablespoon of organic laundry detergent. Boil for several minutes and then clean normally after you've emptied the mixture.

To avoid:

- Bleach that releases chlorine (toxic) in contact with heat.

- The glass wool that will damage the bottom of your pots and pans...
